Air courier or transport company: which to choose for express delivery?

Air Courier or Transport Company? Differences in Speed and Price

In modern business, time is often more important than money. When you need to deliver an urgent document, product sample, or important part, the question arises: which method of transportation is preferable? Most often, the choice is between an air courier service (like AviaSend) and a traditional transport company. Let's explore the key differences and when which option is more profitable.

Key difference: individual flight vs. consolidated cargo

1. Air courier service: a personal approach at speed

The main goal of an air courier is to deliver your cargo as quickly as possible, as if you were flying with it yourself.

• How it works: Your shipment (documents, parcel) is handed over to the courier, who travels on a passenger flight as a passenger. He flies with a pre-purchased ticket for the sole purpose of delivering your cargo.
• Speed: This is the fastest possible delivery method. Delivery times range from a few hours to a day, depending on the destination. Cargo doesn't wait for batches to be formed and isn't held in warehouses.
• Priority: The air courier's primary focus is your cargo. It follows the logistics chain from hand to hand, minimizing the risk of delays and losses.
• Cost: High, since you are essentially paying for a personalized logistics service, including the courier's airfare.

Ideal for: urgent documents (contracts, court papers), confidential correspondence, samples for urgent testing, spare parts for discontinued production, medical supplies, and other cargo where every hour counts.

2. Transport Company (TC): Savings Through Consolidation

Transport companies operate on the principle of consolidated cargo.

• How it works: Your package arrives at the TC warehouse, where other shipments heading in the same direction await. Once sufficient volume has been reached, all shipments are combined into one batch and sent by ground transport or air (as cargo, not carry-on or passenger baggage).
• Speed: Delivery takes significantly longer. Deliveries take from several weeks to months. Time is spent waiting for the shipment to be assembled, processing at the central warehouse (sorting), and delivery to the branch.
• Priority: Logistics efficiency for large quantities of cargo, not the speed of delivery of a single shipment.
• Cost: Significantly cheaper, since transportation costs are distributed among all senders in the shipment.

Ideal for: regular deliveries of goods, non-time-critical documents, and commercial shipments where low transportation costs are the primary criterion.
